Who we are

A story that began with neighbours saving together — now a guiding star for community health.

Nyota Stars Community Based Organization is a grassroots organization operating in Tharaka Nithi County. It began in 2014 as a self-help group driven by the need for social development and economic empowerment, starting with merry-go-round and table banking, and was officially registered by the Directorate of Social Development in 2021.

Since the Corona period, when members used their knowledge and skills in health and education to lead community health education, that passion has never dimmed. We work with individuals, families and communities to improve health seeking behaviour and the uptake of preventive and promotive services.
